The Translational Emotion and Memory Laboratory at Tufts University was founded in January 2022. Our research focuses on examining methods to harness memory processes with the goal of developing novel interventions for emotional disorders (e.g., anxiety, trauma and stressor-related, and mood disorders).

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Statement

At the TEAM lab, we recognize the ways in which systemic racism and other forms of discrimination have formed structural barriers to access to research settings. We strive to promote equity and inclusion and to provide enriching research experiences for all trainees, including those from marginalized backgrounds. We also recognize that sample diversity is vital to psychological research, as many facets of identity and experience can shape our minds and mental health. We acknowledge that conscious and constant effort is necessary to further our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Here are some examples of steps we are taking:

  • Team

    • Encourage applications from undergraduate research assistants from marginalized backgrounds, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and first-generation college students.

    • Inquire about individuals’ commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in our interview process.

    • Foster and support equity, diversity, and inclusion in our lab community by inviting speakers and reading articles from authors from underrepresented backgrounds in psychology

  • Studies

    • Increase sample representation by advertising for potential participants in a wide variety of outlets.

    • Work on publications which highlight the overlap between our areas of interest and equity, diversity, and inclusion-related topics.
